7 Proven Ways to Grow Your Eyelashes Naturally

Does staring at your lashes in the mirror make you wish they were bigger, longer and a bit more impressive – but still without all the effort required by eyelash extensions, strips of glue or lumpy mascara? I’ve been there. A while ago, a trip to the beach that left my normal eyelash extensions looking thin led me to search how to grow them. So I began my lash growth journey and I’m sharing what’s really helped me promote eye lash healthy growth.

I am going to guide you on seven effective ways to grow your eyelashes naturally and safety. I have used several of these approaches and some of them did not go as planned. There are a few individual stories throughout — because Confident creates moments of confidence, not just pretty pictures.

This article is for those who have recently removed lash extensions, get tired of false lashes or are simply looking for a little enhancement.

Why Eyelashes Fall Out in the First Place

Lashes are more delicate than we realize. Using harsh removers, rubbing too aggressively or being stressed can cause hair to thin or fall out. After an intense Halloween makeup with waterproof mascara and glitter glue, I quickly discovered why you should always remove your makeup with oil (I assure you such a task will never be repeated by me).

Grasping the things that impact lash health will lead us to be more careful about our routines and the products we use.

7 Natural Ways to Grow Your Eyelashes

1. Castor Oil Every Night

Castor oil has been my go-to since college. When I saw how my roommate’s lashes looked after using it, I knew why she was a fan. Before I went to sleep every night, I applied cold-pressed castor oil from the base of my lashes using a mascara wand and after a month, I saw my lash falls reduced and my lashes looked fuller.

2. Stop Using Waterproof Mascara Daily

It was hard for me, since I enjoy using waterproof makeup products. Regular use often means pulling off makeup which can cause pulling or tugging on the lashes. Once I used a more delicate every day product and brought out waterproof only for special times, I could really see the difference.

3. Invest in a Lash Serum That Works

Not all lash serums are created equal. I tried three before finding one that actually worked. The trick? Look for ingredients like biotin, peptides, and panthenol. My eyes felt good and all I saw after using this for 12 weeks were thick, longer lashes.

4. Gently Remove Eye Makeup

Let me tell you, this is one of the most important things you can do. Apply micellar water or an oil-based product with cotton pads. No scrubbing. Filming myself take off my makeup one time made me realize how tough I was being. Now I treat it like a mini spa ritual.

5. Apply Vitamin E Oil 3x a Week

After seeing a TikTok video where someone mixed vitamin E oil in their brows, I decided to try it. It’s thick and nourishing. I dip a cotton swab in my lash line and very gently rub it. It helps condition and strengthen lashes over time.

6. Eat More Lash-Friendly Foods

What you eat shows up on your lashes, too. Lashes may become longer when you regularly include protein, omega-3s and biotin in your diet (eggs, salmon, almonds). Simply adding a spinach, Greek yogurt and flax seeds smoothie to my mornings has made a big difference.

7. Use a Silk Pillowcase

This tip came from a friend in beauty school. Your facial skin and lashes may be pulled by cotton pillowcases during rest. Silk is gentler and reduces friction. Plus, it’s great for skin and hair overall. I never travel without mine now.

Quick Lash-Care Checklist

So it stays simple, you can keep this checklist by your vanity:

  • Removing eye makeup is gentle with the use of micellar water or an oil-based makeup remover</li
  • Use castor or vitamin E oil 2–4x a week
  • Eat biotin-rich foods like eggs and almonds
  • Sleep on a silk pillowcase
  • Take weekly photos to track progress

Stay with these steps and results will become clear in 4–6 weeks.

Lash Growth: My Personal Timeline

Week What I Noticed
Week 1–2 Less fallout, lashes feel softer
Week 3–4 Small length increase, denser lash line
Week 5–6 Noticeably fuller lashes, even without mascara

Final Thoughts

Lashes don’t grow in just one day, but regular care is very effective. For my case, mixing natural oils and practicing a few thoughtful tips was the biggest help.

Makeup is not only about how you look, but also about how you feel confident about your skin, with less makeup. I almost started crying (yes, intended) when I first saw my bare eyelashes flutter after using products for growth.

Here’s what worked best for me:

  1. Castor oil before bed
  2. Switching to a silk pillowcase
  3. Eating more biotin-rich foods

How do you find that your eyelashes grow faster? Have you tried any of these methods? Please tell me — I love hearing what you go through to feel confident and beautiful!
